PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has arrived in the United Republic of Tanzania for a three-day State Visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation and reinforcing the historic ties between Namibia and Tanzania.
Nandi-Ndaitwah arrived in Dar es Salaam at the invitation of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, marking her first State Visit to Tanzania since assuming office.
The visit includes an official welcoming ceremony at the presidential residence, Ikulu State House, followed by bilateral talks between the two Heads of State.
According to the Namibian Presidency, the visit underscores the enduring bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, which were forged during Namibia’s liberation struggle and strengthened through decades of partnership.
Namibia and Tanzania share a long-standing historical relationship dating back to the struggle for Namibia’s independence. Tanzania played a significant role in supporting Namibia’s liberation movement by providing political, diplomatic and material assistance, while also hosting many Namibians in exile.
These historic ties have continued to form the foundation of relations between the two nations since Namibia attained independence.
The Presidency said the State Visit provides a strategic opportunity for both countries to deepen cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, education, tourism and regional integration.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss ways to advance economic partnerships and promote shared prosperity for the people of both countries.
The visit comes as Namibia and Tanzania seek to strengthen regional cooperation and build on their longstanding partnership rooted in mutual respect, solidarity and a shared commitment to Africa’s development.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s engagements in Tanzania are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral relations while identifying new opportunities for cooperation that will benefit both nations.
