THE Office of the Judiciary has announced that preparations are underway to facilitate the hearing and determination of divorce matters in Magistrates’ Courts countrywide.
Vikitoria Hango, Public Relations Officer at the judiciary, explained that at present, several vital administrative, operational and procedural processes are being finalised.
“The requisite human resources, systems and infrastructure are being established to support the effective implementation of this service. These preparations require meticulous and coordinated planning to ensure that the transition is carried out efficiently and in a manner which upholds access to justice and the effective administration of justice,” Hango said.
She added that the public will be notified once the Office of the Judiciary is in a position to commence hearing divorce matters in Magistrates’ Courts and specifically in the Regional Courts, as provided for in terms of recent legislation.
“The Office of the Judiciary appreciates the patience and understanding of the public during this preparatory period,” Hango concluded.
