Lüderitz inmates complete gender-based violence rehabilitation course

Staff Reporter

TWENTY inmates at the Lüderitz Correctional Facility have received certificates after successfully completing a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) course aimed at promoting personal development, behavioural change and successful reintegration into society.

The certificates were awarded during a ceremony held at the correctional facility, where participants reflected on the knowledge and skills gained through the programme.

The graduates expressed their appreciation to Rehabilitation Coordinator Superintendent Tjahikika for facilitating their enrolment in the course and for the support, encouragement and guidance provided throughout the programme.

According to the inmates, the continuous mentorship motivated them to remain committed to personal growth and positive change as they prepare to reintegrate into their communities upon release.

The programme forms part of ongoing rehabilitation efforts by the Namibian Correctional Service aimed at addressing social challenges, promoting accountability and equipping offenders with the tools needed to make positive contributions to society.

Correctional officials said rehabilitation programmes remain an important component of offender development and play a critical role in reducing reoffending while supporting successful reintegration.
