THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has extended the tax filing deadline from 30 June 2026 to 31 August 2026 as efforts continue to restore full functionality of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) following technical challenges that affected processing and system performance.
In a public notice issued, NamRA said significant progress has been made in resolving the technical issues that were first highlighted in a notice published on 1 June 2026.
According to the agency, several key system functions have now been successfully restored, including the loading and reconciliation of bank statements, the restoration of the Taxpayer Amnesty Programme (TAP), integration of ASYCUDA data, and cash office reconciliation at the till.
NamRA said these improvements have enhanced overall system performance, although some users may still experience intermittent system slowness and delays in certain return-processing functions.
“Our technical team is still working on restoring ITAS to full functionality,” the agency stated.
As a result of the slower pace of processing transactions on the system, NamRA announced that all tax returns originally due on 30 June 2026 may now be submitted until 31 August 2026.
The agency also clarified that salary earners are not required to upload their PAYE certificates when filing returns, as the information is already pre-populated through submissions made by employers.
However, taxpayers have been advised to verify that the tax amounts deducted by their employers are correctly reflected on Schedule 17 of their tax returns before submission.
Taxpayers claiming deductions for pension fund contributions, annuity contributions or study policy contributions are required to upload the relevant PAYE documentation from their fund administrators when filing their returns.
NamRA apologised for any inconvenience caused by the technical disruptions and thanked taxpayers for their patience and understanding while work continues to stabilise the system.
