Electoral Commission submits 2025 election review to Parliament

Staff Reporter

THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has officially presented its Performance Assessment and Post-Election Report (PAPE) for the 2025 Regional Council and Local Authority Council elections to the National Assembly.

The report was handed over to Deputy Speaker Fillipus Katamelo on Thursday.

The Electoral Act requires a comprehensive evaluation of each electoral process within six months of the poll.

According to the ECN, the report assesses the conduct, outcomes and overall performance of the 2025 elections. It covers constitutional and electoral issues, logistics and infrastructure, training and performance of electoral officials, voter education initiatives, voting operations and results analysis.

The document also includes recommendations for legislative reform aimed at strengthening electoral integrity.

By law, the Speaker must distribute copies of the report to the President, Chief Justice, Chairperson of the Electoral Court, Chairperson of the Magistrates Commission and Chairperson of the Law Reform and Development Commission.

The ECN said that the report will be made available for public inspection to promote transparency and inclusivity.
