PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has extended warm congratulations and best wishes to former Cuban president Raúl Castro on the occasion of his 95th birthday, while reaffirming the longstanding ties of friendship and solidarity between Namibia and Cuba.
In her congratulatory message, Nandi-Ndaitwah paid tribute to Castro’s lifelong contribution to the Cuban people, the Cuban Revolution, and the promotion of the ideals of freedom, justice, solidarity and self-determination.
The President also acknowledged Cuba’s historic support for Namibia’s liberation struggle, describing the relationship between the two countries as one built on enduring bonds of friendship and mutual solidarity.
She further commended the resilience and determination of the Cuban people in the face of ongoing challenges, noting that Cuba’s commitment to sovereignty and independence continues to inspire nations and liberation movements around the world.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said Namibia values the strong historical relationship shared with Cuba and remains committed to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
She concluded by wishing Castro good health, strength and wellbeing as he celebrates the milestone of his 95th birthday.
