THE Municipality of Swakopmund has officially opened four newly upgraded Mole Cubicles and the Boom Tower at the Mole, constructed by Jesaya Steel Manufacturing and Engineering CC at a cost of N$4.8 million.
“The project includes enclosed cubicles that will serve as storage and trading facilities for local SMEs showcasing arts and crafts. The newly erected tower houses four public toilets, a security services room, and a sea rescue room, contributing to improved safety, convenience, and operational efficiency at one of Swakopmund’s most treasured coastal destinations,” Municipality of Swakopmund revealed.
The municipality also inaugurated a new Welcome to Swakopmund sign and Instagram frame, constructed by Afri-Track Civil & Structural Construction (Pty) Ltd at a cost of N$252,990.94. The municipality revealed that the frame, based on the winning design concept submitted by Nicole Buchert, is one of three new welcome signs that will be installed around the town.
“Strategically located near the Desert Explorers Quad Biking and Camel Riding facilities, the sign provides residents, visitors, and holidaymakers with the perfect photo opportunity to capture memories of their visit to Swakopmund. Its location allows motorists and tourists to safely stop, park, and take photographs as a lasting reminder of their time in Namibia’s premier coastal destination,” Municipality of Swakopmund added.
