FUEL prices remain unchanged for June following government review, with the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy confirming that petrol and diesel pump prices in Walvis Bay will stay at current levels despite recent global oil market fluctuations.
The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, announced that petrol will remain at N$23.48 per litre, while diesel 50ppm will retail at N$28.26 per litre and diesel 10ppm at N$28.36 per litre. The decision follows a monthly fuel price review conducted by the Ministry.
Fuel prices had increased in May, with petrol rising by N$1.40 per litre and both diesel grades increasing by N$4.63 per litre.
Briefing the nation on the June 2026 fuel pricing decision, Amutse said the government opted to maintain current pump prices based on the provisional outcome of the review, adding that this would provide some stability for consumers.
“The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has completed a review of the fuel price for June 2026 and hereby informs the Namibian public and all stakeholders of its decision to keep fuel pump prices for June unchanged,” he said.
He further assured the public that Namibia’s fuel supply remains stable, with sufficient stock levels held by oil marketing companies and no immediate risk of shortages.
According to Amutse, international oil market dynamics continue to influence local pricing, with petrol prices affected by tighter global inventories and increased seasonal demand in the Northern Hemisphere, placing upward pressure on global petroleum prices.
He also added that fluctuations in crude oil and refined product prices, alongside exchange rate movements between the Namibian dollar and the US dollar, contributed to mixed pricing signals, including under-recoveries in petrol and over-recoveries in diesel.
Additionally, reduced freight and shipping costs to Walvis Bay helped offset some of the upward pressure, contributing to the decision to keep domestic prices unchanged for the month.
