THE Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, Filemon Wise Immanuel, has commenced a two-day familiarisation visit to Community Courts in the Kunene Region from 29 to 30 April 2026.
The visit is aimed at assessing the operations of Community Courts, strengthening collaboration with traditional authorities, and ensuring that justice services remain accessible to communities, especially in rural areas.
On Wednesday, 29 April 2026, the Minister visited Aodaman Community Court in Khorixas, followed by the Fransfontein Community Court. The programme continues on Thursday, 30 April 2026, with visits to Otjikaoko and Vita Royal Community Courts in Opuwo.

During the visit, the Minister is engaging with court officials, traditional leaders, and community members to better understand the challenges they face and to identify practical solutions to improve service delivery. Speaking on the visit, Chief Public Relations Officer Edmund Khoaseb said the initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to bringing justice closer to the people.
“This visit is about listening and learning. Community Courts play a key role in resolving disputes at local level. By engaging directly with those on the ground, the Minister is able to understand what is working and where support is needed,” said Khoaseb.
“It also shows our commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind when it comes to access to justice,” he added.
The Ministry remains committed to strengthening the Community Courts system as part of broader efforts to promote fairness, efficiency, and inclusivity in the justice sector.
