THE Ministry of Health and Social Services has engaged clinical specialists from Windhoek’s main public hospitals in a strategic meeting aimed at improving service delivery, strengthening collaboration, and enhancing patient care across the healthcare system.
The engagement, held with specialists from Katutura and Windhoek Central hospitals, was led by Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Esperance Luvindao and attended by the Deputy Minister, Executive Director, senior management, and more than 50 clinical specialists.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming financial year, while also providing a platform for frontline healthcare professionals to raise challenges, share experiences, and propose practical solutions to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
Both ministry leadership and specialists emphasised the need for regular engagements to ensure ongoing communication, better coordination, and alignment across the healthcare system. The importance of maintaining high standards and delivering quality care was also highlighted as central to strengthening public trust in health services.
Minister Luvindao acknowledged the critical role played by clinical specialists, stating that their expertise and commitment are essential to building a more responsive and efficient healthcare system.
“I must firstly communicate with you and let you know that we value you. We value your expertise. We see you, and we don’t want you to give up. We want to come up with solutions that you all as specialists feel are moving us forward,” she said.
The minister also called for a follow-up meeting in June 2026 to assess progress on agreed action points and indicated that similar engagements will be extended to other regions as part of ongoing healthcare reforms.
Clinical specialists welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to decision-making processes and calling for continued dialogue between healthcare professionals and ministry leadership.
The meeting marks a step towards fostering a more collaborative, accountable, and patient-centred public healthcare system.
