THE Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), in collaboration with law enforcement authorities, intercepted a consignment of suspected marijuana valued at approximately N$5.2 million at the Noordoewer Border Post during the early hours of Friday, 10 April 2026, with the suspect fleeing the scene.
The seizure was made during routine enforcement operations when officials scanned a vehicle and detected the illicit consignment. The drugs, identified as marijuana (skunk), consisted of 103 packets weighing 1kg each and one packet weighing 500g. Authorities indicated that the total weight and final value are still subject to verification.
According to NamRA, the suspect fled while the vehicle was undergoing inspection. The vehicle and confiscated drugs were subsequently handed over to the Namibian Police for further investigation.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from Keetmanshoop responded to the scene to carry out additional searches and processing.
NamRA reiterated its commitment to combating illicit trade and safeguarding Namibia’s borders through strengthened enforcement measures and continued collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
