THE impact of recent showers can be seen in several of the country’s dams, particularly in the south, which has recorded a rise in water levels over the past week.
According to the Hydrological Services of Namibia, the Hardap Dam increased from 52.8% last Monday, 30 March 2026, to 57.4% this Tuesday, 7 April 2026. In the //Kharas Region, Neckartal Dam increased from 100.2% to 101.4% during the same period, while Naute Dam climbed from 86.3% to 95.5%. Bondels Dam also saw an improvement, rising from 0% to 5.7%.
Several dams in the central, eastern and northern regions also experienced slight increases in water levels over the past week. The Von Bach Dam rose from 68.8% last Monday to 69.6% this Tuesday. In the eastern region, Tilda Viljoen Dam rose from 51.4% to 53.1%, while in the north, Olushandja Dam went up from 54.6% to 57.4%.
Overall, the country’s total dam capacity increased from 79.4% last Monday to 81.5% this Tuesday – representing an increase of 32.430 million cubic metres.
