THE Namibian Police have issued a nationwide advisory urging the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution during the upcoming Easter long weekend from 3 to 6 April 2026. The period, marked by religious gatherings, school and work recesses, and increased travel, is traditionally associated with a rise in criminal activities and road incidents.
Deputy Commissioner Shikwambi, Head of the Police Public Relations Division, warned that criminals often target personal property, cash, and engage in fraud via unsolicited communications during this time.
The Police also cautioned drivers about heavier traffic volumes and potential road congestion, advising motorists to plan journeys in advance, maintain a sober mindset, adhere to traffic rules, and exercise patience on the roads.
To ensure public safety, the Namibian Police will intensify patrols, crime prevention operations, and deploy mobile roadblocks across the country throughout the long weekend.
The advisory aims to protect citizens, their property, and reduce accidents, as families and friends travel to celebrate the Easter holidays.
