THE Roads Authority (RA) has warned that several roads in the ||Kharas Region have been severely affected by heavy rainfall and flooding, resulting in temporary closures to ensure the safety of motorists. The affected routes include District Roads 205 (DR205) and 269 (DR269), Main Roads 25 (MR25) and 27 (MR27), and District Road 611 (D611), with sections between Ariamsvlei, Karasburg, Aroab, Koes, and Keetmanshoop rendered impassable.
Motorists are advised to avoid flooded areas and adhere to road closure signage. Where possible, alternative routes include Trunk Road 0301 (T0301) from Ariamsvlei to Grünau and Main Road 26 (MR26) towards affected areas. Due to ongoing rainfall, road conditions remain too hazardous for immediate damage assessments, and RA teams will conduct evaluations and suggest alternative routes once the weather permits.
The RA continues to monitor the situation closely and urges drivers to exercise extreme caution.
