Heavy rainfall expected across several regions on Tuesday

Staff Reporter

THE Kunene, Erongo, Otjozondjupa, Khomas and central-northern regions are likely to experience substantial rainfall on Tuesday.

This was predicted by the Namibia Meteorological Services, which indicated that these showers are expected to be moderate to heavy in the aforementioned regions. The forecast further notes that the anticipated rainfall will not only affect the interior parts of the country, as showers are also expected in some coastal areas.

Several places across multiple regions have already experienced notable rainfall in recent days. These include Aroab in the //Kharas Region, which recorded about 32 mm of rain on Sunday; Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region, which recorded about 45 mm; and Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region, which saw 10 mm of rain on the same day.

Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region also recorded significant rainfall, with parts of the north-eastern town receiving as much as 50 mm on Sunday. This is particularly impactful, as the Zambezi River has been rising rapidly in recent weeks, resulting in flooding in some areas and hindering movement in certain constituencies.

The public is advised to remain cautious given the anticipated rainfall, especially those who are near rivers at this time.
