AN elderly couple were held hostage and robbed of items amounting to over N$140 000.00 in the capital’s Academia residential area.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, the incident of robbery happened on Friday, 20 March 2026 at about 07:00 at Plato Street.
It is alleged that the victims, a couple and both pensioners, were held at gunpoint and robbed of their valuable items by unknown male suspects who entered through the gate of a locked yard. It is alleged that both victims were grabbed, dragged, and tied up by their legs and arms with electrical cables before the suspects locked them inside the rooms. It is alleged that the suspects took items consisting of cellphones, jewellery, and laptops, to a value of N$140 000.00, before they fled the scene. No arrests or recoveries were made, and police investigation continues.
