NQA launches online platform for qualification evaluations

Staff Reporter

THE Education Minister, Sanet Steenkamp, has officially launched the Namibia Qualifications Authority’s Evaluation Automation System, marking the Authority’s transition from a manual evaluation system to an automated one.

“For many years, the evaluation of qualifications relied largely on a manual process. While these systems served the NQA faithfully, they obviously were designed for a different era – an era of lower volumes of applications, unhurried expectations and limited technological advances. But as our nation has grown over the three decades, so, too, has the demand for faster, more transparent and efficient services. The increase in both local and international qualification evaluation applications indeed placed immense pressure on the systems,” Steenkamp said.

She emphasised that the old system has reached its limit, necessitating the introduction of a new system that promises to enhance accuracy and consistency in the evaluation of qualifications, while also generating reliable and credible data to inform policy and planning.

“It will serve as a centralised digital evaluation platform and definitely significantly reduce the processing times, while providing real-time tracking for applicants,” Steenkamp continued.

NQA’s system can be accessed at www.namqa.org. Users simply need to register and upload their certified documents on the website for evaluation.
