NamPost strengthens ties with regional leaders to improve grant distribution

Staff Reporter

NAMIBIA Post Limited (NamPost) has intensified its collaboration with regional leaders to improve the distribution of National Social Cash Grants, following engagement sessions held across several regions to address service delivery challenges and enhance efficiency.

Since taking over the grant payment programme on 1 October 2025, NamPost has focused on ensuring that payments are delivered in an efficient, orderly, and dignified manner. As part of these efforts, the institution, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, recently concluded a series of stakeholder engagement sessions with governors, as well as regional and local councillors.

The engagements, which took place from 2 to 13 March 2026, covered the Zambezi, Kavango East and West, Ohangwena, Oshana, Omusati, and Oshikoto regions. These sessions form part of the first phase of NamPost’s broader regional stakeholder engagement programme, with a second phase planned for Kunene, Erongo, Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Khomas, Hardap, and //Kharas regions.

Discussions during the meetings focused on strengthening community awareness and encouraging adherence to structured in-branch payment schedules to ensure smooth grant distribution. Regional leaders expressed support for NamPost’s efforts and committed to assisting in promoting compliance at community level.

According to NamPost, improvements introduced following challenges experienced during the October 2025 and January 2026 payment cycles have already resulted in better service delivery. These include the provision of shaded areas at high-traffic post offices and stricter measures to maintain order during payment processes.

NamPost said it remains committed to working closely with regional leadership to ensure the effective and dignified distribution of social cash grants to beneficiaries across the country.
