PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has continued consultations with opposition parties represented in Parliament after receiving a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Affirmative Repositioning Movement (AR) at State House.
The delegation was led by AR leader Job Shipululo Amupanda, and the meeting formed part of the President’s broader efforts to engage opposition parties through structured dialogue on matters of national importance.
The engagement was attended by the Vice President, the Prime Minister, and several Cabinet members. During the meeting, Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the importance of consultation among national leaders to guide the country towards a shared vision of development, stability, and national progress.
Welcoming the delegation, the President said dialogue among elected leaders remains crucial in shaping the country’s future.
“As elected representatives, we are all leaders, and we have a responsibility to exchange views so that we can lead our people in the right direction,” she said.
The President added that the meeting forms part of a broader series of engagements she committed to during her State of the Nation Address last year, aimed at strengthening dialogue with opposition parties represented in the National Assembly of Namibia.
Amupanda welcomed the opportunity to engage with the President and Cabinet, describing the discussions as constructive and forward-looking. According to him, the dialogue focused on key national issues, including economic development, governance, the accountability of state institutions, and proposals aimed at advancing Namibia’s development.
He characterised the meeting as both strategic and constructive, likening the moment to a “planting season” in which ideas and proposals are being introduced to shape the country’s future.
Amupanda also emphasised the importance of continued engagement between government and political movements, noting that strengthening institutions and governance would ultimately contribute to Namibia’s long-term stability and prosperity.
