KLAUDIA Amunyela Tamukondjo, a 46-year-old resident of Omugulugombashe village in the Omusati Region, died Thursday morning after she was allegedly trampled by an elephant, highlighting once again the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the area.
It is alleged that the elephant was shot at and wounded by a villager on Wednesday evening. The victim was trampled to death when she ventured too close to the wounded elephant at around 11:00 on Thursday.
The elephant cow was eventually put down by nature conservation officers.
