THE City of Windhoek has warned residents and motorists to expect temporary traffic disruptions in parts of the capital on Thursday afternoon as a heavy abnormal load is scheduled to pass through the city.
In a public notice, the municipality said the load will travel through Windhoek via Trans Kalahari Road into Sam Nujoma Drive at around 12:30 today.
According to the city, the movement of the load may affect traffic signals and cause temporary disruptions at several major intersections, including Sam Nujoma Drive and Nelson Mandela Avenue, Robert Mugabe Avenue and Nelson Mandela Avenue, as well as Independence Avenue and Hosea Kutako Drive.
Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, reduce speed and follow traffic regulations, signals and instructions from traffic officers while travelling in the affected areas.
The city apologised for any inconvenience caused and asked road users for their understanding.
