THE City of Windhoek has announced the temporary closure of selected sidewalks in Otjomuise and Khomasdal from 9 March to 10 April 2026 to allow for the installation of new fibre infrastructure.
In a notice to residents, the municipality said the closures will affect specific sidewalks in Otjomuise and Khomasdal areas and form part of efforts to upgrade connectivity infrastructure in the two suburbs.

The affected route starts at Shoveller Street in Khomasdal, turning left at the first intersection onto Hofsanger Street, proceeding past Petrel Street, then right onto Kransswael Street, which continues into Bonn Street, left onto Stockholm Street, right onto Kitchner Street, and ending at Akupetri Street in Otjomuise.
Construction work will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption to residents and road users. Traffic will be redirected where necessary to create a safe working space for contractors.
The City assured residents and businesses that access to properties in the affected areas will be maintained throughout the construction period.
Motorists and pedestrians have been urged to comply with temporary traffic signage and observe access restrictions around the construction sites.
The City apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for its cooperation during the project.
