The official commemoration of the 36th Independence Day will be held across all regions.
“On behalf of Her Excellency, the President, Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, I wish to inform the nation that this year’s official Independence Day celebrations will be marked across all our 14 regions,” the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, announced.
She confirmed that the theme for this year remains “Beyond 35 for a Prosperous Future” and noted that the National Preparatory Committee is already working closely with regional governors to finalise preparations for the celebrations.
“We anticipate celebrating this year’s festivities in a united and inclusive way, and therefore all the specific regional events and their logistical arrangements will be communicated by your respective governors in each region. The President, Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, looks forward to seeing you all at your regional celebrations,” she added.
Theofelus encouraged members of the public to take part in the celebrations wherever they may be.
“In whatever region you find yourself on 21 March 2026, as compatriots and fellow Namibians, you are all invited to celebrate independence at the nearest regional event to you,” Theofelus said.
