The approval of these MoUs was announced by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, during the most recent Cabinet briefing.

She revealed that one of the MoUs will be concluded between the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture and the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of the Kingdom of Spain in the field of sport and physical education.

“The purpose of this MoU is to establish the framework for the signatories to initiate sports cooperation, in accordance with their competencies, and prioritising the exchange of knowledge,” she said.

The minister further announced that Cabinet also approved the signing of an MoU between Namibia and the Republic of Malta on cooperation in research and innovation. She explained that the purpose of this MoU is to set out a legal framework for mutual interest and benefit, and to establish and determine the institutional mechanisms for cooperation in the field of research and innovation.

In addition, Theofelus disclosed that Cabinet approved the signing of an MoU between Namibia and Hungary on the provision of the Stipendium Hungarian Scholarship Programme (2026–2028).

“The Hungarian Participant offers at most ten scholarships annually to citizens of the Republic of Namibia for pursuing studies in Hungary either in Hungarian or in foreign language,” Theofelus added.
