Namibian Embassy issues safety advisory amid Middle East tensions

Staff Reporter

THE Namibian Embassy in Cairo has issued a safety advisory to all Namibian citizens in the Middle East, amid ongoing volatility and unpredictable security conditions in the region. The Embassy said it is closely monitoring developments and will provide timely updates as the situation evolves.

While no Namibian nationals have been reported affected so far, the Embassy urged citizens residing in, transiting through, or travelling in the region to exercise heightened caution. Key recommendations include avoiding high-risk areas and large gatherings, monitoring local news and official advisories, following instructions from local authorities, and keeping travel to a minimum.

The Embassy also advised Namibians to ensure that travel documents are valid and accessible, maintain regular communication with family or trusted contacts, and keep their contact details updated with the Embassy or nearest Namibian diplomatic mission.

Citizens requiring consular assistance or support are encouraged to contact the Namibian Embassy in Cairo at +20 2 2358 9652/3, mobile +20 10 9276 8777 or +20 10 2188 7373, or via email at cairo@mirco.gov.na.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of Namibians in the Middle East and will continue to issue updates as the situation develops.
