UPDATE: Samuel Shipanga, former G4S security guard, implicated in the Namib Desert Diamond (Namdia) heist, wherein diamonds worth N$315 million were stolen from the state-owned diamond enterprise, appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court. His matter has been postponed to 19 March 2026. This follows an order that Shipanga’s case be joined with the criminal case of Joel Angula, a former protection officer at Namdia who also stands accused of theft of diamonds, among other charges. Shipanga is charged with one count of theft of diamonds. It is alleged that he stole four parcels of diamonds from the Namdia offices following a fatal armed robbery at the premises on 18 January.
