A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl was found dead in a crop field at Ohalumbele village in the Onesi Constituency of the Omusati Region on Friday morning, with police detaining a 31-year-old woman for questioning in connection with the incident.
According to the police weekend crime report, the lifeless body of Namusha Lydia Ruusa (2) was discovered in a mahangu field at around 07:50 on 20 February 2026.
It is alleged that the suspect entered a room where three minor children aged 2, 10 and 12, along with a blind woman, were sleeping. The suspect allegedly took the two-year-old toddler to a nearby mahangu field, where she was strangled to death before the body was left among the crops.
The next of kin have been informed.
A 31-year-old female has been detained for questioning as a person of interest. Police investigations continue.
