THE Fifth Session of the Namibia-Congo Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) officially opened in Windhoek, marking the start of the two-day event aimed at facilitating discussions between the two countries on reviewing bilateral cooperation.
“The JPCC will review bilateral cooperation and consider the finalisation of pending Memoranda of Understanding, focusing on diplomacy and security, economic cooperation, and social sectors,” the Ministry of International Relations explained.
The Namibia-Congo JPCC began on Thursday, 19 February 2026, with a Senior Officials Meeting. The meeting was co-chaired by Ndiitah Nghipondoka–Robiati, Executive Director in the Ministry of International Relations and Trade of Namibia, and Amb. Simeon Ewongo, Executive Director in the Ministry of International Cooperation and the Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships of the Republic of Congo.

According to the Ministry of International Relations, the Senior Officials Meeting aimed to deliberate on matters of mutual interest and to prepare the groundwork for the Ministerial Session scheduled for Friday, 20 February 2026.
Nghipondoka–Robiati delivered the opening remarks, reaffirming the strong historical ties between Namibia and the Republic of Congo. She expressed appreciation for the solidarity extended to Namibia during its liberation struggle and underscored the enduring friendship between the two countries.
She also emphasised the need to accelerate the implementation of signed agreements and to finalise pending instruments in the fields of health, fisheries and marine resources, culture and arts, postal and telecommunications services, and information and communication.
The Senior Officials Meeting will be followed by the Ministerial Session of the Namibia-Congo JPCC on Friday, 20 February 2026, co-chaired by Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, and Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, Minister of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships of the Republic of the Congo.
