Several areas recorded favourable rainfall this weekend, with some totals exceeding 50mm — setting the stage for widespread showers expected across multiple regions today.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Service, severe thunderstorms are expected in several interior areas on Monday, with the possibility of flash floods. The Zambezi, Kavango East, Kavango West, Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Hardap and //Kharas regions have been identified as likely to receive widespread showers.

This weekend already brought notable rainfall to many areas, particularly in the north. In the Oshikoto Region, Tsumeb recorded around 80mm of rain between Saturday and Sunday morning, while Oshivelo recorded over 140mm between Friday and Sunday morning.
Beyond the northern parts of the country, further rainfall was observed over the weekend. Otjiwarongo and Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region, Windhoek in the Khomas Region, and Rehoboth in the Hardap Region were among the areas that experienced showers.
More rainfall — possibly heavier and more widespread — is expected in the interior as the new week begins. The public is advised to remain cautious, as flooding remains a significant risk.
