A DENTAL therapist who owns clinics in Rundu and Grootfontein has been arrested and charged over alleged fraudulent claims submitted to the Public Service Employees Medical Aid Scheme (PSEMAS) amounting to more than N$400,000. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says the case stems from claims for services allegedly not rendered to beneficiaries over several years.
The ACC identified the suspect as Sydney Mulenga Munkonge, owner of Sydney Dental Therapists CC. Investigators allege that between 2013 and 2017, false claims totalling N$405,675 were submitted to PSEMAS.
Following the investigation, the case docket was referred to the Office of the Prosecutor-General, which authorised prosecution on multiple counts of fraud and contraventions of the Anti-Corruption Act. Munkonge and his company appeared in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court on 5 February 2026, were granted bail of N$50,000 the following day, and the matter was postponed to 26 February 2026 for appearance before the Regional Periodical Court.
The ACC said it remains committed to upholding integrity and accountability in public institutions, warning that corruption undermines governance and service delivery.
