THE Ondangwa-based State Prosecutor, Justine Shiweda, who was shot and attacked with an acidic substance in October last year, has died after a four-month battle against injuries sustained during the incident.
Oshana Regional Police Commander Lungameni Sakaria said that he received the sad news from the deceased’s family and confirmed that she died at Lady Pohamba Hospital this morning.
Those who were arrested in connection with the incident face a litany of charges, including attempted murder, which will now be changed to murder.
The accused include Dr Fillemon Nakanduungile, an Ondangwa-based medical doctor.
They also include former police officer Abner Matheus, who, according to earlier police reports, was allegedly released from police cells by a colleague to enable the attack. Other accused persons include Police Sergeant Matheus Shipingana, Petrus Uusiku, Selma Bahn, Johannes Nghilifavali, Petrus Shikwaya and Lukas Nekwiyu.
