NAMWATER has issued a public warning to bidders and members of the public after receiving reports of fraudulent phone calls from individuals falsely claiming to represent the utility’s Evaluation Committee and demanding payments in exchange for awarding tenders.
According to NamWater, scammers have been contacting bidders and promising successful bid outcomes in return for money. The utility stressed that this practice is fraudulent and has no connection to its official procurement processes.
NamWater emphasised that it does not request or accept payments in exchange for the awarding of bids and will never contact bidders to solicit money or guarantee tender success. All procurement processes, the utility said, are conducted transparently and in line with established legal and institutional procedures.
The water utility urged bidders and the public to remain vigilant and to avoid engaging with individuals making such claims. Anyone who receives suspicious calls or messages related to NamWater tenders has been encouraged to report the matter immediately to bids@namwater.com.na.
NamWater said public cooperation is essential to protecting the integrity of its procurement processes and preventing members of the public from falling victim to fraud.
