A NUMBER of areas continued to experience significant showers this week, resulting in flooded streets, with some regions even seeing hail.
More showers, possibly heavy falls, are expected in some areas today.
Otjiwarongo, in the Otjozondjupa Region, was one such place where both substantial rainfall and hail occurred earlier in the week. Okahandja and surrounding areas in the Otjozondjupa Region also saw consistent rainfall, recording around 20mm of rain at the beginning of the week.

Meanwhile, in the south, Mariental’s streets were flooded on Monday following a sudden thunderstorm. The aftermath was documented in videos and photos shared by Facebook user Monika Klose, showing vehicles making their way through the flooded streets of the southern town.
In the north, showers persisted throughout the week, including in Eunda, in the Omusati Region, which recorded 22mm on Monday.
The Erongo Region also experienced continued showers, with areas like Usakos and Omaruru recording between 16mm and 18mm of rain from Monday to Tuesday morning. This followed Omaruru’s earlier recording of about 24mm of rain the previous day.
More showers are expected today. According to Namibia Meteorological Services, heavy falls are expected in the Kunene, Erongo and Omusati regions, with the likelihood of flash floods in places.
