THE First Gentleman of the Republic of Namibia, Lt Gen Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah, led a targeted Substance Abuse Awareness Campaign among learners in Rehoboth, Hardap Region. The initiative aimed to educate young people on the dangers of drugs, the value of education, and the importance of positive choices in shaping their future.
During the event, Lt Gen Ndaitwah encouraged learners to resist peer pressure, focus on education despite setbacks, and choose friendships and values that foster growth. He warned that substance abuse fuels crime, destroys families, and deprives communities of future leaders, urging students to envision themselves as Namibia’s next teachers, principals, governors, and ministers.
Learners were challenged to take their education seriously, prepare for leadership, and reject drugs as a false escape that threatens their future.
In his remarks, the First Gentleman stated: “You do not need to be addicted to drugs to be a man. You just need to be a man because you are a man. Substance abuse is not a qualification for success. Let us save our children and guide them toward a brighter future.”
The campaign formed part of ongoing efforts to promote healthy lifestyles, leadership skills, and responsible decision-making among Namibia’s youth.
