TEMPORARY road closures will be implemented around the Parliament Building in Windhoek on Monday, 2 February, and Tuesday, 3 February 2026.
This was announced by Parliament spokesperson Sackey Kadhikwa, who explained that the road closures are necessary to accommodate preparatory activities and official proceedings for the Official Opening of Parliament, which will take place on Tuesday, 3 February 2026.
He revealed that the roads affected will include the intersection of Sam Nujoma Drive and Robert Mugabe Avenue; the intersection of Fidel Castro Street and Robert Mugabe Avenue; Daniel Manumava Street (north of the Old State House); and Love Street.
These roads will be temporarily closed on Monday, 2 February, from 08:00 to 10:00 to allow for the rehearsal of the military parade. The roads will also be closed on Tuesday, 3 February, from 11:30 to 15:00 to facilitate the Official Opening of Parliament.
“Members of the public and road users are kindly advised to exercise caution, plan alternative routes, and comply with traffic and security directives. Parking in and around the Parliament precincts will be limited during the specified times. The Parliament of the Republic of Namibia appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation in this matter,” Kadhikwa added.
