THE Roads Authority (RA) has announced the decentralisation of all applications for road carrier permits to the NaTIS regional offices nationwide.
“This decentralisation process is aimed at bringing services closer to the people and at cutting costs for applicants who previously had to incur courier charges or travel long distances to submit their applications at the Permits Office in Windhoek.Effective 01 February 2026, all applications for road carrier permits will be submitted at any NaTIS office countrywide, thereby streamlining the process and making it more accessible to everyone,” RA explained,
The authority further explained that to submit applications at NaTIS offices, clients must complete the application form and attach all required documentation, including proof of payment for the necessary permit.
“Clients are also hereby advised that NaTIS offices will serve solely as submission points for applications and for the collection of issued permits,” the authority added.
RA clarified that this applies to applications for a road carrier permit, replacement of vehicle on an existing permit, transfer of an existing permit (from one person to another), duplicate permit, change of route or additional route, and temporary permit while waiting for approval (Section 20).
“Clients in towns without a NaTIS office are encouraged to submit their applications at a NaTIS Office in the nearest town. The RA is currently working on a long-term solution where such applications can be submitted online,” the authority said.
