A 39-year-old police officer, Ivanoi Inacio Vatilifa, shot and injured his girlfriend in the neck before fatally shooting himself.
According to the weekend crime report, the attempted murder–suicide incident occurred on Saturday, 24 January 2026, at around 21:14 at a house in Mary Street, Khomasdal.
It is alleged that the 39-year-old Vatilifa shot and injured his girlfriend in the neck before shooting himself in the head with a service pistol during an argument between them. The officer succumbed to his injuries, while the girlfriend is receiving treatment at Katutura State Hospital and is in a stable condition. The victim is a 36-year-old Namibian female.
Next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.
