THE Namibia Football Association (NFA) has announced the passing of executive council member and respected football administrator Michael Stephanus Situde, who died on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at his home in Mariental after a short illness.

Born on 2 February 1975 in Mariental, Situde was a dedicated football administrator whose contribution to the sport spanned many years and various levels of football governance. He was widely regarded as a principled and committed leader within the Hardap Regional Football Association, where he rose through the ranks to become chairperson, earning respect for his humility, discipline and unwavering passion for football development at grassroots and regional levels.

Through consistent service and diligence, Situde gained the trust of his peers, which led to his election to the highest decision-making body of Namibian football. He was elected to the NFA Executive Council at the 32nd Ordinary Elective Congress in November 2023. During his tenure, he brought valuable regional insight, calm counsel and a deep understanding of football administration, while advocating for inclusive development and the strengthening of football structures across all regions, particularly for young men and women.

The NFA president, Executive Council, management, staff and the wider Namibian football fraternity have mourned the loss of what they described as a devoted servant of the game, a respected colleague and a humble leader.

The association has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Situde family, including his wife, children, siblings and extended relatives. Condolences were also conveyed to the Hardap Regional Football community, his club Flying Eagles Sport Club, and all those whose lives he touched through football, public service and the broader community.
