PANDULENI Nghitanwa, a male learner from Oshigambo High School in the Oshikoto Region, was listed as the top candidate for the NSSCAS full-time category, achieving the top achiever status overall for Grade 12s in the country.
He is followed by Nicdemus Heita from Onawa Senior Secondary School in Omusati, and Elao Aushona, a male learner from Onawa SSS as well.
Sanet Steenkamp, the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, explained that the cohort of top-performing NSSCAS full-time candidates reflects strong academic attainment across the country, with a notable concentration of high achievers from the Oshikoto and Omusati regions, particularly from Oshigambo High School and Onawa Senior Secondary School.
“The distribution highlights centres that continue to demonstrate effective preparation for Advanced Subsidiary level demands. While male candidates constitute the majority of the top performers, the presence of several high-achieving female candidates underscores steady progress toward balanced gender representation at this level,” the minister said.
In contrast, Marian Kweya, a female learner from Rukonga Vision School, has been listed as the top performer at the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO) level.
She is followed by Dacrus Manuel, a male learner from the same school, and Emilia Nghipandulwa in third place from Onawa Senior Secondary School.
Steenkamp explained that the list reflects exceptional academic achievement across a diverse range of schools and regions, underscoring the breadth of talent within the NSSCO.
Steenkamp added that the spread of top performers across both rural and urban centres demonstrates that excellence is not confined to any single school setting. “While female candidates appear slightly more frequently among the top achievers, the overall outcomes indicate a broadly balanced gender representation at this level,” the minister said.
The top 10 public schools for NSSCO full time were listed as Negumbo Senior Secondary School, Rukonga Vision School, and Rev. Juuso Shikongo Senior Secondary School.
The top three private schools from the top 10 private schools are Canisianum RC School in Omusati, Oshigambo High School in Oshikoto, followed by Northcote Academy in the same Oshikoto Region.
