A NEWBORN baby girl was discovered alive after having been thrown away in a plastic bag in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, the discovery was made on Saturday, 10 January 2026, at around 22:25 in an open area opposite the Kuisebmond Police Station.
It is reported that a member of the public was on his way from work when he heard a baby crying. He went closer to where the trucks were parked and observed a baby wrapped in a plastic bag, and immediately went to alert the police. Police officers attended the scene and found a newborn baby girl wrapped in a plastic bag, alive, with the placenta still attached. The baby was taken to Walvis Bay State Hospital for further care. Social workers from the Ministry of Gender and Child Welfare were notified.
