THE Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare has issued an urgent appeal to the public to help trace a child seen in a widely circulated social media video allegedly consuming traditional alcoholic brew, otombo, raising serious concerns about the child’s safety and possible neglect or abuse.
In a statement, the Ministry said it is urgently seeking information on the whereabouts of the child featured in the video, which shows the minor drinking a traditional alcoholic beverage commonly known as otombo. Authorities described the footage as deeply concerning and said it may point to potential child endangerment.

The Ministry has called on anyone who recognises the child, the location where the video was recorded, or the individuals appearing in the footage to come forward immediately. Officials stressed that public cooperation is critical to ensure the child’s safety and to allow authorities to assess and address the circumstances surrounding the incident.
