Police on the hunt for Okahao axe murderer

THE Namibian Police are on the hunt for a known suspect who allegedly murdered a 42-year-old woman by hacking her with an axe to death and subsequently leaving the murder weapon lodged in the victim’s head.

According to the weekend crime bulletin, the incident or murder happened on Thursday, 2 January 2026, at approximately 21:00, at Onandjo Village, Otamanzi Constituency.

It is further alleged that witnesses heard the voice of a woman screaming, accompanied by the voice of a male person verbally insulting her. Shortly thereafter, only the crying of a baby was heard. The witnesses then proceeded to the scene to investigate. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of an adult female lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigations conducted by police officers at the scene revealed that an axe was found embedded on the right side of the victim’s head, and visible bruises were observed on the neck.

The body was removed from the scene and transported to Okahao Police Mortuary, where it is kept pending a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The suspect is known but has not yet been arrested, as he fled the crime scene.
