A 29-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed to death while defending his mother, who was being assaulted by her ex-lover.
According to the weekend crime bulletin, the murder occurred on 20 December 2025 at about 17:00 at Ombili location in Mariental. It is alleged that Salvation Kobus Afrikaner, a 29-year-old Namibian male, died after he was stabbed with a knife by the suspect.
It is further alleged that the suspect went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend and refused to leave, after which he stabbed her on the shoulder with a knife. The deceased, who was the son of the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, allegedly took a piece of wood in defence of his mother and struck the suspect on the nose. The suspect then took out a knife and stabbed the victim to death.
The deceased’s next of kin was informed, while the deceased’s mother is admitted to Mariental State Hospital. A 52-year-old Namibian male was arrested and is in police custody. Police investigations continue.
