THE Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, is currently in Luanda, Angola, where she is attending the 7th African Union (AU)–European Union (EU) Summit on behalf of Namibia.
The summit, which began on Monday, 24 November 2025, is being held under the theme “Promoting peace and prosperity through effective multilateralism.” It aims to deepen AU–EU partnerships and shape joint approaches to shared global challenges.
The Ministry of International Relations and Trade noted that heads of state and government are participating in two thematic sessions focused on enhancing cooperation in the following priority areas: peace, security, governance and multilateralism; and prosperity, people, migration and mobility.

On the margins of the summit, Ashipala-Musavyi met Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Estonia’s Minister of Justice and Digitalisation, with discussions centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation, advancing digital governance, and exploring new opportunities in capacity-building and trade facilitation, among other areas.
Ashipala-Musavyi also met Selma Malika Haddadi, Deputy Chairperson of the AU. According to the ministry, their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Namibia and the African Union, including support for Namibia’s development priorities, regional integration, and key AU initiatives.
