THE leader of the Landless Peoples Movement (LPM), Bernadus Swartbooi, has opened a criminal case against a fellow political figure in Keetmanshoop today following an alleged assault.
Lifalaza Simataa, LPM spokesperson, said in a press release that the suspect waited until Swartbooi’s driver and bodyguard briefly entered a shop.
“He then approached the vehicle in a manner befitting a man governed not by principle but by impulse, spewing insults, throwing punches, and even spitting on a sitting Member of Parliament. Hon. Swartbooi defended himself from within the car, while shocked witnesses rushed to alert the security detail, who immediately intervened and restored order.
A criminal case has since been opened, and Hon. Swartbooi has provided a full statement, one that witnesses have already corroborated. LPM has also formally contacted the ECN regarding the steps they will take against this self-styled candidate, who has now demonstrated a complete collapse of ethical judgment and a blatant disregard for the ECN Code of Conduct, the law of the Republic, and the foundational standards of public decency,” Simataa said.
He concluded that the Landless Peoples Movement will not be intimidated by political pretenders who substitute violence for vision, hysteria for leadership, and disorder for democratic engagement.
