PAULUS Shimweefeneni “Ninja”, a former notorious gang leader who was released from prison last year after serving a 25-year sentence, is in the Intensive Care Unit of Ongwediva Medipark following an exhibition boxing bout on Friday in which he defeated well-known boxer and head of an Ondangwa-based boxing academy, Hedison Nghipondoka “Bulelo”.
Ninja was declared the winner by unanimous decision.
Two months ago, Bulelo predicted that any fight between himself and Ninja would end with his opponent’s hospitalisation. “He will leave the ring in an ambulance,” he said in an interview.
Ninja defeated Bulelo and did not leave the ring in an ambulance.
However, he was eventually taken to hospital and admitted to the ICU. The exact nature of his ailment is still unclear.
