THE 12 Motorised Infantry Brigade has successfully completed its annual Field Training Exercise (FTX), a large-scale military drill aimed at strengthening operational readiness, improving troop interoperability and sharpening tactical skills across the Namibian Army.
This year’s exercise, held in Keetmanshoop in the //Karas Region, brought together army members from various formations and units. Code-named Exercise Fast Track II, the FTX simulated a controlled, fictitious operation designed to test and enhance the army’s training capabilities in a realistic environment.
The final scenario—a deliberate attack—was executed in the early morning hours of Wednesday, 19 November 2025, officially marking the end of the exercise. The event was attended by regional leaders who observed the troops in action.

Addressing the parade afterwards, Army Commander Major General Aktofel Ndengu Nambahu commended the soldiers for their professionalism, discipline and teamwork. He said the exercise not only strengthened battle skills but also reinforced unity within the force.
“Through this exercise, you have demonstrated resilience, dedication, and a sense of unity and camaraderie,” he said. Nambahu also stressed the need for continuous training to meet evolving challenges. “As we conclude this year’s FTX, we carry forward invaluable lessons that will enhance our effectiveness in future tasks.”
The exercise forms part of the Army Commander’s 2025 Training Directive, aimed at ensuring the Namibian Army remains fully prepared to defend the country.
