UPDATE: Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the national spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force, has confirmed a murder incident in which a seven-year-old girl was shot dead after a 55-year-old man opened fire on a group of children playing in the road in front of his house. According to Shikwambi, the incident occurred in the Hakahana informal settlement on 5 November 2025, between 17:00 and 18:00 hours. “A group of boys were playing football in the street near where the suspect lives. The suspect emerged from his house and started firing shots. The boys ran off after hearing the first shot. However, after the shooting, it was observed that a 12-year-old boy was assisting the seven-year-old deceased,” Shikwambi said. She added that the victim died while being rushed to the hospital, and another child was struck by a pellet from the shotgun as well. The suspect has been arrested.
