SUMMONED: Councillor Vilho Tully Nuunyango of the Oniipa Constituency in the Oshikoto Region was summoned to appear before the Ondonga Traditional Court in Oluno, Ondangwa, on Thursday in a case related to alleged illegal sand mining. At least one senior traditional councillor and a village headman count among the witnesses summoned to testify. However, Councillor Nuunyango, who is currently seeking re-election on a SWAPO Party ticket, has downplayed it all, saying on social media that he was not summoned by the traditional court but was simply invited to the traditional authority office. “I, Tully Nuunyango, councillor of the Oniipa Constituency, hereby inform the nation that I, personally, have not been summoned to any court. I am rather invited,” he wrote on social media.
