THE inaugural session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (IGCBC) between Namibia and Cuba officially concluded on Wednesday with the signing of several agreements.

The Ministry of International Relations revealed that the signed agreements focused on the fields of health, sport, and education.

“During the course of the inaugural session of the Intergovernmental Commission, we committed ourselves to over ten joint decisions, and we look forward to signing and concluding three bilateral agreements. I want to remind both sides, and stress, that the real work begins once we sign the Agreed Minutes and the Agreements — and the results will be measured by the progress of implementation,” said Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade.

She emphasised that the monitoring and evaluation of the joint decisions and agreements would be critical, enabling the involved parties to continue cooperation anchored in the reality of tangible outcomes. The Minister reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation with Cuba.

“Together, let us continue building a partnership that reflects not only our shared history but also our shared future — a future of prosperity, dignity, and justice for our peoples,” Ashipala-Musavyi added.
